Wow. Steinbach just got PAID, but at least it was by the Cleveland Browns.
Per TheOBR.com:
The OBR is told that the deal is worth $49 million over seven years with $23 million in the first three years. We have also been told $17 million guaranteed.
No word yet on whether hes going to be LG, RT, or even maybe LT some are saying.
If only LeCharles could have played this year...

Link to the Interview (MP3)
Couple Quotes from Mr. Savage:
"16 hours from now we'll probably be finding out, one way or the other, whether we're going to be getting some of the quote "big ticket" players because usually at 12:01 this game is on".
Then later in the interview he said:
"I think this year there are a couple players that are interested in us, uh, potentially. We think we have something to offer in terms of where this team is going to go."
Savage also mentioned they are still confident that they can sign Fraley before midnight tonight. Mentioned the "11th hour" again. So lets see fellas....

Well its that time of year again folks - time for us Browns Fans to get all fired up about how good we're going to be next year, only to watch a 5-11 team.
This year as last year, expect a fast and furious start to FA at 12:01AM tonite. Rumors have the Browns interested in Nate Clements, and Eric Steinbach among others. Also it'll be huge to see if we can get Hank Fraley resigned before midnight hits and hes a FA.
Look for updates as signings happen throughout the night and weekend.

First off - thank god hes finally fired. Of course being the Cleveland Browns, we wait until we're 1-5 and basically out of the playoffs to make the move...
"One story from last year -- told by a player prior to this week -- seems to sum up what now appears to have been a dysfunctional situation.
It had then-quarterback Trent Dilfer telling Carthon that a play he called in practice had the wrong protection. Carthon responded by telling Dilfer to run the play the way he called it, protection or not.
That angered Davidson, who turned around and slammed his clipboard to the ground"
Things like this just baffle me as to how Romeo didn't fire the guy earlier. The fact that it took Romeo so long to make this move might have cost him his job come next season.
Oh well, lets see what Jeff Davidson can do - it certainly cant be worse than what Moron Carthon was doing.

Rueben fires back at Q Morgan for his comments about our locker room: ``For him to make a comment like that is really disrespectful. And you've been with 10 different teams in six years? Who are you?''

"Here(in Denver) we got one goal: win the championship," Myers said. "Cleveland? Just try not to go 5-11, 4-12."
"You know what the word is? Good riddance," Ekuban said of the group's exit from Cleveland
"The (words) 'Super Bowl' (were) forbidden in the building almost," Warren said. "They didn't even think about Super Bowl. That's all I think. Teammates would look at me like yeah, 'I'm dreaming,' when I'm in the locker room talking about try to win a Super Bowl. They were like, 'You're on the Cleveland Browns.' "
"A lot of guys were more into women," Morgan said of the locker-room mix. "We had guys having a competition to see who could bring the best- looking chick to the game. That's true, man. We had one to see who had the nicest car. It was a mess."
If the Browns' can't get fired up for this game after a bye week, 2 weeks of bashing Mo Carthon and Romeo Crennel, and their entire ex-DL coming to town talking shit - then we really have no business playing football anymore.
Its put up or shut the fuck up time Cleveland - give the fans SOMETHING this weekened

Cleveland fans earned first place by routinely packing their 73,000-seat stadium despite the dismal play of the Browns -- who have won only 36 of 112 games since 1999 -- and a climate that is among the coldest in the league.

Well Browns Fans, barring a miracle final 11 games, it looks like yet another season of no playoffs and high draft picks.
Opening 1-4 with our brutal schedule coming up (DEN, NYJ, SD, ATL, PIT, CIN) doesnt bode well for any playoff hopes. Lets look at some positive though:
1) Obviously, Kellen Winslow and his league leading 30 catches at TE. This guy comes to play every Sunday, and does so in dominating fashion. It would be nice to see us get a real OC in here and actually use Kellen to STRETCH the defense, but one can only hope....
2) The Defense. These guys just went on the road and held Carolina to 13 points, and 0-11 on 3rd downs. Sure they've given up a few big runs here and there, but with the injuries to the secondary and the youth - Great Job Todd Grantham
3) Special Teams / Josh Cribbs. This unit has been amazing. Cribbs dominates at returning, and also leads the team (and is top 10 in the league) in special teams tackles. Cribbs has a legit shot at making the ProBowl as the Special Teamer this year
